JDA has long been committed to creating a more sustainable future, actively engaging in efforts to bring more green energy to our home state of South Carolina and developing facilities nationwide using responsible building practices.
Our company strives not just to prepare for the future but to actively engage in shaping our future. In 2019, South Carolina had a significant opportunity to pass legislation that would support the growth of clean energy in our state. When this opportunity was met with pushback, JDA's leaders led the charge in rallying a group of 30 major companies across the state to publicly support legislative action to increase solar energy development. Ultimately, the Energy Freedom Act was passed in South Carolina, paving the way for a more sustainable and economically fruitful environment.
In addition to engaging in legislative action to support clean energy development, JDA has also developed a renewable energy platform focused on diversifying energy sources in our home state, with over 100 megawatts of utility-scale solar energy being developed.
JDA is also committed to sustainable and responsible development practices across its business efforts outside of the state of South Carolina.
All of JDA's multifamily communities now include sustainable appliances and EV charging stations to welcome residents with electric vehicles. Some of our communities also feature green roofs. Additionally, JDA's Multifamily Division has been recognized as a NGBS Green Partner of Excellence for five of the last 10 years.
Additionally, Coastline Ventura was designed and constructed under the green building guidelines mandated by the LEED for Homes Certification program. During the construction of Coastline Ventura, LEED for Homes requirements were field-verified and performance-tested by a third-party agency approved by a US Green Building Council (USGBC) LEED for Homes Provider. The LEED for Homes energy efficiency performance requirement incorporates standards mandated by the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) ENERGY STAR program. ENERGY STAR is a joint program of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the U.S. Department of Energy helping consumers save money and protect the environment through energy efficient products and practices. Elara is also LEED certified.
JDA is constantly exploring opportunities to incorporate solar components and other sustainable development practices in each of its new facilities.
