Johnson Development’s team has extensive experience developing a wide range of real estate assets over the past 35 years. Most recently, through its entrepreneurial spirit, the team has leveraged that expertise to launch a focused effort to develop neighborhoods across the Southeast.
With a broad portfolio of existing land holdings and a nose for acquisition opportunities, the JDA team navigates the design and entitlement process and builds out the necessary utilities and infrastructure for each residential community. By taking on what is typically the most risk intensive part of any development project, the team creates attractive site-ready opportunities for homebuilders.

Summerville, SC (Charleston MSA)

In March of 2018, JDA acquired the 4,000-acre tract of land in Summerville, SC, outside of Charleston, for all cash. Leveraging prior experience and relationships in the market, the team openly engaged with community stakeholders to develop a PDD and Development Agreement that was a win for all interested parties. The zoning process was particularly challenging, given the property's location in a nationally recognized historic district.
JDA has divested 950 residential units to a national homebuilder and continues to work through other uses on the property.

JDA's Flatwoods Residential property lies on 129 acres of land, located 15 minutes north of downtown Spartanburg. JDA will entitle and permit +/- 328 single-family lots and will complete the horizontal development of the property (grading, road construction, and utility infrastructure).
JDA will partner with a homebuilder to design the community, which will be built in phases, with plans to break ground on the project prior to YE 2021.
