Overcoming Opposition: Developing in Mount Pleasant
We became the stalking horse bidder in bankruptcy court and closed according to the process dictated by the bankruptcy court for all cash. By leveraging hotel and storage capacities to speed execution, and by openly engaging with community stakeholders, we completed the rezoning of the property for mixed use in 6 months in the face of growing anti-development sentiment in Mount Pleasant and 20 years of failed proposals.
JDA has now become a leader in the residential expansion of Mount Pleasant with 900 units either in lease up or in the pipeline. JDA continues to maintain strong relationships with government officials, neighbors, and other community stakeholders because of our commitment to building superior products and listening to the desires of the community.
