Watson Hill: Managing complex entitlement processes
In March of 2018, JDA acquired the 4,000-acre tract of land in Summerville, SC, just outside of Charleston. The property is located in a nationally recognized historic district, and also along the Ashley River, an important ecological feature of the region. JDA was able to create a vision that enabled a modern, mixed-use neighborhood to complement the important cultural and environmental aspects of the area.
Though a challenging zoning process, through engagement with community stakeholders, JDA was able to develop a PDD and Development Agreement that was a win for all interested parties.
JDA has divested 950 residential units to a national homebuilder and continues to work through other uses on the property.
