JDA is currently searching for a full-time Director of Human Resources for the Corporate Office in Spartanburg, South Carolina.  A description of the position and requirements are listed below.  Qualified candidates should email their resume to baustin@johnsondevelopment.net.

Position Summary

The Director of Human Resources designs, implements, and manages the overall strategy of all Human Resources services, policies and programs for JDA. Key areas of responsibility include talent identification, talent management, performance management, organizational development (coaching and training), compliance, employee relations, orientation, development, training, policy development and documentation, compensation and benefits administration and employee safety, welfare, daily transactional HR, wellness and health.

The Director of Human Resources will lead a small team but will need to be both a thought leader and a hands-on executor.

Position Responsibilities - Essential Functions

• Overall:

a. Leads the efforts to hire, develop and retain highly talented team members while driving a culture that aligns with our Guiding Principles

b. Evaluates company culture and provides recommendations on changes to accomplish company goals and objectives 

c. Translates company business plans into Human Resources strategic and operational plans 

d. Develops practices and programs to maintain a culture that emphasizes high team member morale, continuous improvement, personal development, teamwork and high performance 

• Hiring and Onboarding:

a. Facilitates all talent identification, recruitment, development and management efforts, including job posting, initial interviews, hiring processing, onboarding and follow-up surveys

b. Participates in and coordinates college recruiting and internship programs

c. Develops onboarding and orientation programs

• Talent Management:

a. Oversees the performance management system, including use of technology solutions and tools

b. Analyzes turnover and reviews other data to identify reasons for team member turnover

• Compensation and Benefits:

a. Collaborates with the CEO and senior leadership team to develop, implement, and report on a Total Rewards approach to compensation and benefits

b. Leads efforts to evaluate and oversee benefits programs

c. Directs the administration of payroll and benefit programs, including health, retirement (including 401K), death, disability, workers compensation and unemployment 

d. Coordinates wellness and medical initiatives, drug testing and background check program

e. Acts as a company liaison with all carriers, vendors, auditors, government officials and providers to ensure program and plan requirements are monitored and being met satisfactorily

• Compliance: 

a. Develops and manages policies to ensure compliance with all federal and state employment laws, FMLA administration, workers compensation, ADA and leave management, and other regulatory matters

b. Advises management on employee relations concerns, including performance issues, and ensures proper documentation of performance related issues 

c. Communicates regularly with internal and external legal counsel

d. Maintains proper personnel forms, reports and records to comply with legal requirements

e. Ensures data in the internal database system is accurate and complete at all times

f. Maintains inventory of up-to-date job descriptions for all positions

g. Maintains organizational charts, employee records and all other HR files and data in a secure and orderly location

Required Education and Experience

• 7+ years of experience in a Human resources leadership role, such as Talent Acquisition, Talent Development, Employee Relations, Compliance, etc.

• High learning agility with a proven ability to operate efficiently and effectively in a fast-paced and flexible environment

• Experience in aligning HR strategies and solutions that solve real business problems

• Ability to use logic and reasoning skills with a strong ability to work through difficult people situations

• Solid working knowledge of federal and multi-state employment and compliance requirements

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products – Excel, Word, PowerPoint

• Effective, clear and proactive verbal and written communication skills

• Organized, responsive, analytical and attentive to detail

• Strong ethical standards; able to create trust and integrity with co-workers

• Must be able to travel, overnight, up to 10% of the time, to support other sites as necessary

• Bachelor’s Degree 

Beneficial Skills and Experience

• Completed post-secondary education, preferably in MHR, HR or HRD and/or professional certification as PHR or SPHR

• Experience in the real estate industry
