Kathy Dunleavy

Community Liaison

Kathy Dunleavy joined Johnson Development as Community Liaison in August 2018. A resident of Spartanburg for over 32 years, Kathy most recently retired as President/CEO of the Mary Black Foundation. Prior to Mary Black, Kathy served as President/CEO of United Way of the Piedmont and also had a 20-year banking career. A graduate of the University of Florida in Business Administration, Kathy has used her experiences and education to focus on improving Spartanburg. Her current community activities include being a Trustee of Spartanburg Regional Health System, a board member of Spartanburg Academic Movement, and Alliance for a Healthier South Carolina as well as on the BB&T Advisory Board and the Johnson School of Business Advisory Board. Kathy has received much recognition including the Order of the Palmetto in 2011 given by Governor Nikki Haley, the Humanitarian of the Year by the Urban League of the Upstate in 2011, the Neville Holcombe Distinguished Citizen of the Year by the Chamber in 2012, and the Mary Mildred Sullivan Award presented by Wofford College in 2018. Kathy and her husband, Ray, reside in Spartanburg and have a blended family of six children and four grandchildren.
