Position Summary

The Self-Storage Division of Johnson Development Associates, Inc. (JDA) is seeking a Development Analyst (“The Position”) to be based in Washington, D.C. area.  The Position reports to a Development Manager of the Self-Storage Division and will be responsible for assisting in design, permitting and development of new projects.  Day-to-day responsibilities include assisting in procuring entitlements, project design, consultant management, permitting, bid administration, contract negotiations, construction management and project delivery. The Position will require travel and some overnight trips.  Below is a list of some of the additional responsibilities.

Position Responsibilties--Essential

  • Assist in the project entitlement process from site acquisition through project permitting
  • Review site plan and architectural design for consistency and accuracy
  • Monitor or coordinate disbursement/draw requests with accounting/finance staff
  • Support the Development Manager in creating and coordinating project schedules and maintaining the process for project team adherence and accountability to timelines
  • Monitor construction projects for progress and quality
  • Review and report due diligence findings to team
  • Participate in routine on-site meetings and site visits
  • Prepare internal and external reports on various aspects of the project

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Prefer experience working in an engineering, construction or real estate-related field
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Detail-oriented and organized
  • Ability to prioritize and accomplish multiple tasks effectively
  • Represent Johnson Development Associates, Inc. in a positive and professional manner
  • Maintain a high regard of confidentiality for company information
  • Exceptional written and verbal skills
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial work environment 
  • Work well under pressure
  • Proficient organizational skill set; documenting and maintaining notes from correspondence and meetings and cataloging them for easy retrieval
